I CANNOT WAIT TO CREATE MAGIC WITH YOU

hello + welcome

I am so looking forward to our session together

here you’ll find some helpful information for our upcoming session and a short, thought provoking questionnaire, so we may create beauty that rings with your truth

As a mother and as a human, I have grown expidentially from my first birth to my last. In many ways I feel as though motherhood offers a spiritual re-birth many times over and will continue to do so as our experiences deepen.

Within our home, our children bare witness to our growth as we do theirs. Through it all we love one another unconditionally, holding space for each member to expand. We hold eachother through the pain and aches and love and joy and eveything in between.

I yearn to honour this beauty and create imagery of life that encompasses it all

The beauty in growing up alongside one another is bewildering

HONEST, NATURAL & SOULFUL

These days I’m surrendering to the nature of time and growth. I want to spend mine celebrating motherhood and the wondrous process of growing up alongside one another.

I hope to do this by creating art with you; stills on film photography, so that we may be reminded of our joys, our craft, & our growth, in the midst of this wild ride that is life.

forever seeking to capture our days with honesty & love

an invitation to BE

My biggest hope, always, is to create a safe space to witness others. I offer an invitation to be.

To be free from the mind that likes to over-think and allow for presence- for our moments together - to lead. To release that wilderness within us all that just wants to be seen and accepted for who we are, as is.

To make art out of our days.

Please take a moment to fill out this questionnaire

I look forward to learning more from you!

what to wear

Often I’m asked about wardrobe, and my answer is always this - wear whatever you wish! This is a reflection of you.

Film loves all colours, textures, patterns… you and your loved ones can be muted and neutral or bold with wild prints. You can even wear a mixture between the lot of you.

There are no rules.

Whatever you like, wear it.

inviting intimacy through wardrobe

Because this comes up in conversation, and it is something I photograph frequently, let’s talk skin.

If you wish to invite more intimacy into what we capture, this can be achieved naturally in wardrobe. Layering, for example, works well with pregnancy, motherhood or in-home family sessions. The use of garment sets, robes, even an unmade bed using rumpled sheets to strategically throw over bodies look very beautiful and natural.

For folks wishing to celebrate their changing bodies, I am very comfortable with nudity, and would remain sensitive to images made, respecting privacy and seeking permission prior to sharing any images.

Practical Tips for your Session

1. Free Yourself of Perfectionism

Your home does not need to be magazine ready. Your mess is allowed. Whatever state your home is generally in, welcome me in it and don’t think twice.

Leave the bed slightly undone. Rustled sheets feel more authentic for an intimate setting than a perfectly made bed full of accent pillows. It also offers interesting texture and allows us to play with the fabric. So, let it be.

Let’s get out of our head and into our bodies.

2. Release Control

Just a loving reminder: you are entirely off the hook.

I don’t expect kids to be on their best behaviour. I’m not about portraying perfection and this probably isn’t why you’ve hired me. Yet, we all feel that societal pressure at times, don’t we? Please don’t stress about this!

I’ll offer some guidance in direction with prompts & light posing, leading with hits of inspiration along the way. However, your kiddos do not have to do what I say. Remember to be permissive. I’m actually counting on them to be entirely themselves. There’s SO much magic in that, that cannot be replicated.

our only job is to love

let’s remain open to what is

3. Tap into your Senses

The feeling of being alive to your senses is a portal to presence.

SIGHT - Eye contact. Creating intimacy with eye contact is powerful. I love strong unapologetic gaze, just as much as tender glances at your loved ones.

TOUCH - “What do I do with my hands?!” Gentle brushing strokes, the soft graze of skin, fingers through hair, caressing faces, the touch of lips to a shoulder or cheeks, the squeeze of a hug, the familiar rest of bodies on bodies, fingers running through long grasses, hands outreached to touch another… I seek out points of contact and will help remind you of this.

SMELL - simple inhales and exhales does wonders for body language. Smelling flowers, hair, a loved one goes a long way to releasing and opening up.

TASTE - freshly cut fruit, baby cheeks and toes, berry stained fingers, a warm bevie

SOUND - music, laughter, cries, whispers, wind blowing, crashing waves, strumming guitar, or simple quietude… what unfolds in moments of silence or boredom is often so very beautiful

Don’t think! feeeeeeeel!!

honestly, don’t over-think this one… I’m always on the look-out for tapping into our senses. just be warned I will likely prompt you to close your eyes and breathe one another in, or the like

Let us set our gaze lovingly on what we have, where we are, and who we are, right now

THE NITTY GRITTY GENERAL TIPS

  • Whatcha wearing? Lay out those outfits the day before so you have less to do on the day of. If we’re at home or at my studio and you wanna do outfit changes, I’m good with that! Different looks are always fun but keep in mind this takes a certain dynamic and session. If that’s too wild for you, keep it simple with the one.

  • Spread the love! Use this day as a special reminder to be extra patient, kind, and flirtatious with one another. Seems like a no-brainer but sometimes getting photos taken stresses folks out and it helps to be aware of that. Starting the day with love and gratitude is a beautiful way to set the tone and it sprinkles to everyone at home.

  • EAT! Make sure you’re all well fed. If we are heading out + about, bring your water and snacks

  • PLAY! Let this be your invitation to unplug and have some genuine quality time with your loves while I move about you guys with a camera. ;) Permission granted to lavish on the snuggles, nuzzles, and be more touchy-feely than usual.

Every photography session is a collaboration between artist and those they are capturing. I like to set intention, so that on the day-of, we can lean into the actual moment with curiosity and play, while our core purpose guides us.

I like doing this through several ways. Hearing more about you through the questionnaire above, and through any visuals you may have for me.

If you have any saved inspo — photos that tug at your heart, I’d love to see it. Feel free to send those my way, in whatever form is easiest for you. ie. Pinterest, a dm, etc.

note: I like to use this more as a mood or overall vision and not as a shotlist.

Also, if you have a moment and wish to do so, sending some snapshots of your space that we’re shooting in gets the creative juices flowing (totally not necessary if you’re a busy bee, but I do welcome it).

Thank you
